The newest technology available for hair removal is the GEMINI LASER. Faster and more effective treatment can now be achieved with this new laser. Approved by the FDA for Permanent Hair Reduction, this laser system provides state-of-the-art hair removal with minimal discomfort or side-effects. The Gemini Laser was one the first lasers approved by the FDA for use in tanned patients, patients with darker complexions and African-Americans. It is also FDA approved to treat Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB), a very uncomfortable facial rash that occurs in some men (and women) due to ingrown hairs.
When undergoing Laser Hair Removal, the patient needs only one laser that works well (such as the Gemini Laser). Facilities that claim to have many lasers, may actually have many lasers that do not work well. They could be old, outdated lasers, lasers that are harsher and more painful, or lasers that cannot be used on patients with tanned or darker skin. More lasers does not necessarily mean better treatment results!
Laser hair removal can be done on any area of the body, including the face, underarms, shoulders, neck, arms, back, chest abdomen, bikini lines and legs. Men and women of all skin types and shades can benefit from treatment with the Gemini Laser.
Because hair grows in stages, four to six treatments may be necessary to treat all the hair follicles in an area. These treatments are usually performed approximately six weeks apart. Treatment works best in patients with darker, coarser hair. Patients with blond, red or gray hair may not achieve the same results. (However, a new product now produces better results in patients with lighter hair.)
Due to the wavelength used, the Gemini Laser produces light that is minimally absorbed by the melanin in the skin. In addition, the light produced penetrates deeper into the skin, down to the level where the hair follicles are. Consequently, the Gemini Laser is one of the most effective lasers for hair removal. Because of its lack of absorption by the skin, and because the treatment tip is cooled almost to freezing, there is minimal discomfort during treatment. The Gemini Laser produces minimal or no side-effects, and requires no restrictions after treatment.
PLEASE NOTE: There are many other lasers and pulsed light systems being used to perform hair removal. They are generally more painful, less effective, and produce more irritation and potential side-effects than the Gemini Laser. Contrary to some claims, PULSED LIGHT IS NOT SAFER THAN LASER, ESPECIALLY IF THE PATIENT IS TANNED, HAS AN OLIVE OR MID-EASTERN COMPLEXION, OR IS ASIAN OR AFRICAN-AMERICAN. The Gemini Laser does NOT produce prolonged redness, swelling, pain, crusting, blistering, sores, or infection. No creams, ointments or pain medications are required after treatment. Immediately after treatment, make-up can be applied. Normal activities, including work, sports and showering, can be resumed immediately. Please ask us about the difference between lasers and pulsed light systems.
BEWARE OF GUARANTEES AND CHEAP PRICES! No facility can guarantee hair removal - they can only guarantee more treatments if the initial treatments don't work. That doesn't make the treatments any more effective. Chose a facility from the start that offers safe and effective laser hair removal, using state-of-the-art equipment. Also, check to see who will be performing the treatments. Cheaper prices usually means a technician is performing the treatment. Note that in Pennsylvania, anyone can be hired as a "technician" to perform laser hair removal, often with minimal training. Usually, reduced power is used by the technician to avoid possible side effects. DR. LAUFER PERFORMS ALL PROCEDURES HIMSELF. Consequently, the highest and most effective powers can be used for treatment.
